Uses for Makeup Bags

I don't know about you, but I have a TON of makeup bags.  Here are some ideas for how to use them.

1.  Keep your hand lotion, hand sanitizer, lip gloss, etc. in one bag to keep in your purse.

2.  Use one to store hair ties.

3.  Use one to store samples you haven't yet used.

For travel:

4.  Use one to store phone chargers and another for your computer charger.

5.  Use one to hold jewelry.

6. Store pharmacy items (bandages, pain relievers, etc.)

7.  Use one to store prescription bottles.

8.  Use one as an evening clutch or as a paired-down wallet.

There are so many great uses for cute makeup bags.  What are some other ideas you have?

For more information, check out the video below.

Erin Condren Life Planner

Recently I switched to using a Color Crush Planner for my day-to-day planning.  It's smaller and fits better in my purse.  But for blog planning and planning for my YouTube channels, I needed something bigger, so I have decided to use the Erin Condren Life Planner for that purpose.  It's this one cute?  (You can get $10 off your first order using this referral link.)

This inside is so decorative and fun with cute little sayings throughout!

This year's planner has a page spread for writing goals.

The month-at-a glance pages have really nice sized boxes and a column for goals.  The week-at-a-glance pages can be ordered either vertically or horizontally.

In the back, there are several pages of stickers, a Keep it Together pocket folder, a removable perpetual calendar, and a plastic zip top pocket.

There were several little freebies included, too.

And I couldn't resist getting some additional covers (they're removable), so I got covers for Valentine's Day, Spring, Christmas, and Halloween.  So fun!

This is working out great for my blog/YouTube channel planning!  If you are interested in Erin Condren products, you can get $10 off your first order by using my REFERRAL LINK.

Office Shelf Organization

I recently decided to tackle an organization project in my office at work.  My bookcases looked messy because the books were tilted every which way.  Then because it looked messy, I ended up dumping some stuff on some of the shelves.

Here's the upper part of the bookcases.

Here's the view of the lower shelves.

I decided to arrange some of the books vertically and some stacked horizontally.  I think this creates visual interest and makes the books stand straighter.

And here's how it looks now.  I love it!

Color Crush Planner

I recently started using a new planner.  While I love my Erin Condren Life Planner, it was just too big to fit in my purse and I wasn't carrying it with me.  I've decided to use my Erin Condren planner for blog/YouTube channel planning and use the Color Crush planner as my daily planner.

I ordered mine from an Etsy shop called the Southern Planner.  The planner is significantly smaller, but has enough room to plan and it fits nicely in my purse.  It also has some fun features that I'm loving!

It's such a pretty planner with a binder that can be used year after year.  For $42, it's economical because in future years, all I have to do is order inserts instead of ordering the whole thing.  And look at that cute little charm that says Love.  So cute!

When you open the planner, there is a quote.  It's a different quote for each color planner.  Mine (called the Teal Stripe planner) has a Maya Angelou quote on velum paper.

The planner has four fun sections at the front.  The first is called Write it Down and it has pages with sections for writing down Thoughts, Ideas, and Dreams.

The second section is called Memory Keeping and has spaces for making sketches, writing down memorable things people said and recording memorable daily happenings.

The next section (which I LOVE), is called Lists to Love and it has places for recording your weekly menu, grocery list, to-do lists, monthly goals, and things you plan to do.

The final section is called Staying Inspired.  It's kind of like having a scrapbook in your planner.  There are cute pages for recording memories or ideas... anything that inspires you!

The two-page monthly spread has REALLY small boxes, but I'm okay with that because I want a planner that fits in my purse.  Color Crush planner fanatics (and there are many of those... check them out on YouTube and Facebook) decorate these pages with cute stickers and Washi tape.

The last page of each monthly page spread has a This & That list.  Then it goes into weekly page spreads that have a good amount of space.

At the back of the planner is a plastic pocket for storing anything from stickers to receipts.

This is followed by a notepad called Lists and Notes.

The planner also includes a cute bookmark to mark your spot in the planner.

So far, I am absolutely LOVING my Color Crush planner.  It has everything I need to plan my day-to-day activities.

Organizing Food Storage Containers

My food storage situation was driving me crazy!  I had a pretty good system for organizing the containers themselves as you can see in this drawer.  It was the LIDS that were tough to deal with.

Here was my atrocious lid drawer that had a few other plastic containers in it.  Yikes!

I bought these bamboo drawer dividers on Amazon.  Under $15 for a set of two.
Lipper International Bamboo Kitchen Drawer Dividers, Set of 2 (affiliate link)

After finishing, I found I had several miscellaneous lids and a few containers we never use.  (Off to the garage sale box!)

Here's my lid drawer now!  The lids sit slanted against the dividers, which is actually great because I can see and access all of the lids.

I love this new set up.  I've been using it this way for several weeks now and it works!  Best of all, it took me about 10 minutes to do and that included cleaning the drawers.

Home Management Binder—This Week

If you just started following this series, be sure to check out Section 1.

The second section of my home management binder is titled This Week.  There are a few printables I use in this section to organize general tasks for the week, goal planning, and meal planning.

Dashboard

The first printable is one that I use as a sort of dashboard.  The tasks on this page stay the same and help me prioritize things I want to do on particular days.  For example, on Mondays, I plan meals for the week and go grocery shopping.  On Tuesdays, I work on my online classes, catch up on watching YouTube videos and film videos for my channels (BusyBeingJen and My Flagstaff Home). You can access this printatble HERE.

Meal Planning

The next printable is for meal planning.  I don't have to print multiple copies of this nifty sheet because the boxes are filled in with sticky notes.  I write a meal idea on a note and stick it in one of the boxes.  These are replaced each week. You can access this printatble HERE.

Weekly Goals

A similar printable is used for my goals for the week.  On sticky notes in these boxes, I list 15-minute projects (see next week's post and video) that I want to complete during the week.  You can access this printatble HERE.

Join me next week for Section 3 of the binder where I explain and give examples of 15-Minute Projects.

Beauty Stash Organization

I don't like to have tons of makeup and bath products opened at once, but I do like to have extras of the products I love.  So, if I find a sale on some tried and true product, I stock up.  Needless to say, that has led to a storage problem.  I put items on a shelf and then another shelf and then another.  Nothing was organized, so it was hard to find things and I ended up buying things I already had.  Here's what my stash shelves looked like.

To organize these shelves, I removed all the items from the shelves and used the lids of cardboard photo boxes I had used for organizing my bathroom closet.  The lids were great for organizing items into categories.  Here's how my stash shelves look now.

The first shelf has bath fizzies, then lotions, then bath products, and masks.
The second shelf has bath some gift items, hair products and deodorant, and vitamins.
The bottom shelf has soap and body wash, makeup items, and shampoo and conditioner.

It was such as simple project that literally took me 15 minutes to complete.  Do you have a special way of organizing your bath and beauty products?  For more detail, be sure to check out the video below.
