January Challenge—31 Days of Hydration

The January challenge:  

Drink the recommend amount of water everyday.

Benefits of drinking water:

1.   Balance the body's fluids.
2.  Feel full and eat fewer calories. 
3.  Energize your muscles.
4.  Have clearer skin.
5.  Have better digestion.
6.  Think more clearly.
7.  Prevent headaches.
8.  Have more energy. 

How much water to drink:

Some people recommend drinking 8-8oz. glasses a day.  Some recommend 10-8oz. glasses a day.  Another school of thought involves a formula:

1.  Take your weight in pounds and divide it in half.

2.  That number is the number of ounces of water you should drink.

3.  So, if a person weighs 140 pounds, half of 140 is 70.  That person should drink 70 ounces of water per day.

Hydration Inspiration:

1.  Carry a water bottle all the time and refill it throughout the day.

2.  Infuse your water with fruit slices or cucumber slices.  It's best to fill the bottle the night before and let it sit in the refrigerator overnight.  Here's my favorite infuser water bottle.  I got it on Amazon (affiliate link):

  1. Jen,
    I am starting this today with a goal to drink 8 eight oz. glasses of water today. Drinking lots of water is also good for your urinary tract and aids in the prevention of urinary tract infections and renal calculi ( stones). I also had a cancerous tumor in my ureter which is the tube that connects the kidney and the bladder. So drinking water is something i really need to do.
