Organizing for Taxes

Tax season is NOT my favorite time of year, so because I don't like it, I take care of it as quickly as possible just to get it over with!  I find that a good organizational strategy makes the whole process easier.  Be sure to see my YouTube video below for details:

First, I keep all of my receipts throughout the year in an accordion file, divided into categories.

Then I keep a file on my computer. When it's time for doing taxes, I total up all the receipts in each category and add it to this sheet.  In addition to this, the file reminds me of all the things I can write off, which makes life easier for me and for the accountant who does our taxes.
