Organizing for Taxes

Tax season is NOT my favorite time of year, so because I don't like it, I take care of it as quickly as possible just to get it over with!  I find that a good organizational strategy makes the whole process easier.  Be sure to see my YouTube video below for details:

First, I keep all of my receipts throughout the year in an accordion file, divided into categories.

Then I keep a file on my computer. When it's time for doing taxes, I total up all the receipts in each category and add it to this sheet.  In addition to this, the file reminds me of all the things I can write off, which makes life easier for me and for the accountant who does our taxes.

Be sure to check out the video above as you will see more detail about the process and strategy we use.  Soon taxes will be behind us and we can move on with our lives (until next year)!
